Q: What do I Make?

I plan on sharing my text-based games made in Squiffy here for offline download. You can play them on textadventures.co.uk before they get released on itch.io!

Q: I've noticed some spelling/game errors in this game. Why?

A: English isn't my first language and those spelling/game errors are either intentional or unintentional. If you think they're not used for a comedic purpose or if you find a bug in the game, please report it to me and I might change it in an update. I work alone, so please be patient.

If you want to help in removing any unintentional spelling errors, leave a comment on the game at textadventures.co.uk or on the itch.io page of that game.

Q: What did you use to make the game?

A: I used a tool called Squiffy. Squiffy is a tool for creating interactive fiction - that is, multiple-choice games that focus on text and story. Players navigate through the game or story by clicking links.

Q: Is Squiffy free?

A: Squiffy is free and open-source, too. It creates HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files, so you can upload them to either your website or their website: textadventures.co.uk.

Q: This is a .html game, right? Is there a save feature?

According to the website, the player's state is automatically saved to their browser's local storage, so they can always pick up from where they left off just by returning to the same web page.

Q: Can I use this engine (or tool)?

A: Yes. You can use Squiffy in your web browser, download Squiffy for Windows, OS X, or Linux, or any text editor, and compile games using the command-line version. I used the desktop application for the majority of my games. (Web browser version is broken lol)

Q: What games do you have right now?

A: I'm currently actively developing "Gilui & Orima" until it is ready for an itch.io release. Another game I made called "DEATH PENALTY" is prepared for release, but I plan on holding this until Gilui & Orima is prepared to further improve the game. More games are indeed under development.

Q: Can my kid play your games?

A: My target audience with my games is 13+ since there are multiple instances of profanity, violence, and many others. If you allow your child to be subjected to this media, there's no way I'm stopping that.

Q: Can I activate any filters to avoid any of these things from showing up during gameplay?

A: Yes. "Gilui & Orima" currently has a built-in Profanity Filter and a Sexual Reference Filter, but not a Violence Filter. There aren't any images in my games (yet), so there's really no current need for a violence filter. "DEATH PENALTY", despite also lacking images, does contain a violence filter. Is that overkill? You ask me.
